MONDAY: 4.5 point-slope formula
In Class:
1. Go over all three formulas for linear equations that we have now learned
2. Go over #78
3. #79 - pg. 223 - 224 #15-39 (m3), #42-44 (DUE IN CLASS)

Homework: 1. Assignment #80: Parallel & Perpendicular Lines (USE GRAPH PAPER)

a. Think back to the graphing assignment we did in the lab a couple of weeks ago. Recall the picture on the bottom left of the first page where the lines all had a slope of 1/2, but different y-intercepts, they looked like a bunch of parallel lines at an angle. They were parallel lines because they had the same slope! Now, on a piece of paper, graph both y = (1/4) x & y = - 4 x. What type of angle to they make when they intersect?

b. Read pages 236-238, take notes on the key concepts, parallel lines, and perpendicular lines. Ignore the Algebra Lab on page 237.

c. Watch the following video & take notes on both examples

Parallel & Perpendicular Lines

d. Do the following sample problems: pg. 239 #1-9 (odd)

Answers: 1. y=-2x-1 3. y=2x-5 5. slope of AC =6/7; slope of BD = -7/6; the paths are perpendicular 7. y=(-5/3)x+8 9. y=(-1/6)x +1/6

TUESDAY: 4.7 perpendicular & parallel lines

In Class:
1. Go over 4.1-4.3 Quiz
2. Go over #80
3. Start #81 - pg. 223-224 #14-40 (e,n3); pg. 240 #12-33 (m3) #16 & #17

Homework:1. Finish #81

WEDNESDAY:4.7 perpendicular & parallel lines

In Class:1. Go over #812. Pop Quiz

Homework:1. Review Assignment, #82, use graph paper, pg. 242 #1-3, 5-7, 10; pg. 243-246 #12-57 (m3) - SKIP #48 & #51

THURSDAY:Review

In Class:
1. Go over #82
2. Review for tomorrow's test on Chapter 4

Homework:Study for tomorrow's test. Make sure you know ALL formulas & ALL vocabulary.

I created a room called algebraalpha at www.scribblar.com. I will be there from 7pm - 8pm tonight to do online tutoring. Bring your math questions. You may have to create an account to use it. Algebra Alpha room on Scribblar

If you join us in the Scribblar room, please sign in with your real name so I know who I'm talking to. I'll have my mic on so you can hear me explain things, but you should have yours off because it creates extreme echo if more than one is on. You will be able to type questions in the chat window to the right.

I just discovered some online self-check quizzes for our textbook. They may be helpful to some of you in studying for the test. Here is the website: http://glencoe.mcgraw-hill.com/sites/0078778522/sitemap.html?resource=selfcheckquizzes If you need to log in first, get the code from the links page on my wiki.
